Workshops

Jan Gardiner is a qualified teacher with over 35 years of experience to offer. Jan continuously updates her lacemaking knowledge, both bobbin lace and needle lace, most recently being awarded an Advanced Certificate for Torchon lace by The Lace Guild in 2018. Jan delights in encouraging lacemakers to make the very best lace they can in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.

Currently Jan tutors regular weekly, monthly, weekend and longer courses around the country.

The format used is ‘LACE: As you like it’ which has proved to be very popular with students. It means that you can bring any lacemaking project along to the classes for which you may need Jan’s expertise. All the classes and workshops are mixed ability.

All levels of lacemaking skills are very welcome especially complete beginners and returners to lacemaking.

Beginners will be led towards successful lacemaking with a series of patterns designed to enable them to gain the necessary techniques required to make beautiful lace.

Residential Workshops are held in Somerset, Wiltshire and Cumbria at total of 5 times a year. These Weekends are residential in comfortable and friendly environments. They begin on Friday evenings and finish after lunch on Sunday. There is an average of 12+ hours teaching provided during the weekend. This gives the student time to work on more complex projects than in a one day workshop.
Numbers are restricted to a maximum of 12 and are taken quickly.

Last year a new workshop was added to the list, a 5 day residential course held at Higham Hall Cumbria. This will be repeated in September 2019 and starts on Monday evening going through to Friday lunch time.

ALL THESE COURSES HAVE LIMITED NUMBERS SO ADVANCE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.

The fees vary so please contact us for more details.
