July 30, 31 and 1 August 2010 Join Jan for a fun weekend making lace. Residential or non-residential. Food and refreshments included. NEW PATTERN Another NEW Torchon Pattern. The Lady Isabella is the name of the largest water wheel in Europe and is situated in Laxey on the Isle of Man. We visited the Isle of Man lacemakers last year and took some time out to visit the Laxey Wheel. I have always fascinated by industrial design and found that I was inspired to endeavour to capture the geometric shapes, power and movement of the huge wheel. The example shown here was worked by Mr Bob Alexander. Stellar Fan A NEW Torchon fan the design of which was inspired a starry night seen through arched windows. A3 size using just 66 pairs. Follow the link to the Patterns page MAKE LACE SUNDAYS AT PORTON Make Lace Sunday workshops are an opportunity to have the time to look at some aspect of lacemaking new to you, start a new pattern or finish off something nearly completed. The plan of the day is to make lace in a friendly and supportive atmosphere with Jan's expertise available to help where needed. Just bring your project and your lunch. Tea, Coffee, Biscuits etc are provided. Join Jan and fellow students to have fun making lace for a day. Follow the link Make Lace Sundays to see how to book your place. NEW BOBBINS ORIENTAL DRAGONS ON EBONY After a long search for ORIENTAL DRAGONS of good pedigree and temperament (They can be quite fierce) we have found a very good strain that, we hope will settle well onto bobbins. The first hatchings have gone extremely well and we now have a few well behaved ORIENTAL DRAGONS to offer, to good homes only, of course. Currently we can only guarantee the behaviour of the Oriental Dragons while on Ebony bobbins. We are working with the dragons to persuade them to behave properly on bone bobbins. Hopefully there will be a graduation of Dragons on Bone later this year. Follow the link Oriental Dragons to their page to see the beautiful colours. FUCHSIA A new range of 12 Beautiful Fuchsias available on either Bone or Wood Midland Bobbins |
